The 2009 Green Leaf Award was recieved by Tamara Dilliard, a representative of General Motors at the New York International Auto Show on March 30, 2008. General Motors was recognized for their commitment in reducing greenhouse gases and smog-forming pollutants in their Chevy Tahoe Hybrid automobile.

South African Arts International has also selected the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid to tow "The Spirit of Zayed" ocean rowboat from Maryland to New York City.
